    Cozy Minimalism

Minimalism is more than a sparse room with neutral colors. It’s working with the space to create a fullness without cramming a room full of color and “stuff.” Simple lines, monochromatic or neutral colors, limited furnishings, and storage solutions for an uncluttered look join space aesthetics like open floor plans and natural light.

Step away from the idea of uncomfortable furnishings that no one wants to sit on and add soft textiles, warm lighting, and rich yet neutral shades.

      Add Texture

Gone are the days of a wall painted in a neutral white, beige, or gray popped out with a bright color. Instead, go for texture. Ever thought of wallpaper on the ceiling? Go for it. Wood paneling? You’ve got the green light now. Decorative plasters and other elements that add dimension to a sparse area are all part of the up-and-coming trends of 2025. Dress up furnishings with textured pillows and blankets, too.

        Add Color

Another design aesthetic of old to shove in the closet for now is the neutral color palette and the “pop” or “splash” of color. Feature walls are out, and washing a room with color is in. Bold, saturated colors in a single color range (think all of the shades of greens, yellows, or whatever you choose on a color wheel) cover the walls and are included in artwork, décor, and furnishings. We’re not saying go crazy; set off the colors against neutrals so you don’t overwhelm the space.

          Some Tips About Paint

You’d think with its neutral color mix a color like “greige” (gray-j) would suit any space. It’s not quite gray, and it’s not quite beige, but a unique color mix that’s a stand-out neutral. For those who want to be on top of the color trends for 2025, look beyond this new neutral.

Go for jewel tones like emerald green, sapphire blue, amethyst purple, and ruby red. The extra deep vibrancy adds drama and an unexpected pop to focal points. Black. Yes, we said black. In 2025, it’s becoming a bold, beautiful accent color that extends to furniture, fixtures, décor, and more. Add natural woods and airy lighter tones to set a mood. Bring in bright natural light with large windows, and add sophisticated lighting pieces to bring back brightness. If black isn’t your thing, another bold color statement is warm metallics like gold, bronze, and copper. For maximum effect, use them as pops of color on the walls and in décor and fabrics against white.

The traditional earthy neutral is always in style. It often goes with a minimalist style but allows for more colors like deep browns, grays, and other colors found in nature. No matter what the rest of your style is, you’ll find a color to compliment it.

            Home Wellness Spaces

Elevate your physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being right at home. Many people are designating a space in their homes to just that. Create an exercise or yoga retreat with natural light, indoor plants, calming colors, and relaxing fabrics. Adjustable lighting, shades, or curtains with cozy textures put your body and mind at ease.

Today’s bathrooms are spa-like retreats with jetted tubs, massive walk-in showers, adjustable lighting, built-in speakers for soothing music, and more.

              Indoor/Outdoor Living

This aspect could very well tie into a home wellness space. Walls of windows that open for an easy transition between indoors and out create a connection with nature. That connection isn’t limited to the wellness space; it’s a trend that connects your indoor living space or great room to the outdoor living spaces like patios, swimming pool or spa areas, outdoor kitchens, and expansive grassy areas.

                Sustainability in Living Spaces

Acipe Design works to include a number of sustainable building materials in every build. We can help you with interior design that continues the sustainable aesthetic. This includes vegan leather, non-toxic materials, materials made through sustainable sources or recycled products, and well-built pieces that will stand the test of time and avoid frequent replacement. Add the look of sustainability with natural-edge wood and stone pieces.

                  Adaptive Reuse

Going somewhat hand-in-hand with sustainability is adaptive reuse. It applies to structures as well as interior designs. This is the piece of reclaimed barn wood you’re using as a mantle, the old chest of drawers you sanded down and stained a modern color, or the couch and chairs you recovered with a modern fabric.

                    Vintage & Retro

As time passes, what is considered “vintage” and “retro” changes. Style, even in interior design, is cyclical. Today’s teens and 20-somethings are bringing back the 1990s style of clothing, accessories, music, and more. They’re calling 80s music “classic rock.”

Today’s interior designers may not be leaning solely toward the 90s, but many retro and vintage designs like wood paneling and authentic retro furnishing are blended in with a bit of modern flair to bring them into 2025.

                      Natural Wood & Stone

We at Acipe Design love to play with materials and colors. We believe that not every wall in the house should be drywall painted a neutral color. Natural stone feature walls, a towering natural stone fireplace, kitchen counters, large windows facing a never-ending view, and wood beams or paneling on the ceiling.

The visual and tactile difference it makes transports you to a calmer space with a more sophisticated feel.

                        Final Thoughts
